The average number of workers in the Other Services sector industry increased 422 (3.3%) from 2023 to 2024, reaching 13,220. Establishments in this sector typically have small-scale employment levels. Annual pay for this sector increased $1,799 (4.0%) for a new average of $46,436 in 2024.
The Other Services industry sector includes a collection of establishments that tender an assortment of services and amenities. Four subsectors are a part of the Other Services sector:

- Religious, Grantmaking, Civic, Professional, and Similar Organizations (NAICS 813)
- Private Households (NAICS 814)
The Religious, Grantmaking, Civic, Professional, and Similar Organizations subsector had employment growth in 2024, marking four consecutive years of increases after rebounding from 2020. This subsector had the sharpest employment growth for this sector. The number of workers increased by 208 to 4,283, an 5.1% growth rate. Back in 2020, there was a loss of 264 workers. Average annual wages also prospered at a pace of 5.1% in 2024, reaching $46,481. These professional establishments coordinate and promote religious activities; support abundant causes through grantmaking; advocate countless social and political causes; and promote and defend the interests of their members. Establishments in this subsector may publish newsletters, books, and periodicals for distribution to their membership. Community action advocacy groups and social change activism associations promote a particular cause or work for the fulfillment of a distinctive social or political goal to benefit a wide-ranging constituency. Memberships and contributions are active, supporting the interests of people working in these professions so they can serve the public. New businesses opened and existing businesses continued adding to the payrolls, enhancing the employment levels for this industry.
There were 157 workers added to the Repair and Maintenance subsector. The number of workers settled at 5,249, a 3.1% growth rate. The average annual wage also grew by $2,597 (5.0%) to $55,035. Employment and wage figures have increased each year for the past 12 years. The establishments in this subsector recondition and refurbish commercial and industrial machinery, equipment, and other products to operational order. These establishments also provide general or routine maintenance on such products to ensure efficient and cost-effective operation, preventing breakdowns and unnecessary repairs, and extending the life expectancy of the equipment. Many establishments serve both businesses and personal households, safeguarding a complementary customer base, while others focus on either businesses or households.
General automotive and maintenance repair establishments showed solid worker growth during 2024 and were the major contributor for this area of maintenance. Workshops specializing in repair of cars, diesel engines, or recreational vehicles (RV) opened new businesses in 2024, adding to worker levels. Also contributing to the growth were new shops providing routine automotive maintenance like oil changes and lubrication. Vehicle components are computerized and becoming increasingly complex, requiring specific repair service. More consumers are trusting the maintenance of their vehicles to the skilled, experienced workers in this industry rather than tackling routine maintenance themselves.
The Personal and Laundry Services subsector's average number of workers in 2024 was 3,491, an increase of 51 workers (1.5%). The annual average wage decreased slightly by $34 to $34,555 in 2024. This subsector's establishments provide personal and laundry services to individuals, households, and businesses. Personal services can come in a mixture of methods, but all include the performance of action instead of a supply of goods. Services performed include laundry, dry-cleaning services, linen and uniform supply, plus personal services like pet care (except veterinary), photofinishing, temporary parking, life coaching, personal shopping, and party planning. All these types of service establishments made noticeable contributions to employment growth. Consumers continue to "buy themselves time" by relying on these types of services rather than doing tasks themselves. Many other subsectors provide people with other services classified under different sectors.
Private Households saw a slight increase of five workers in 2024, with a total of 196. Average annual wages strengthened to $27,000. Establishments in the subsector are private households that employ domestic personnel on or about the premises to operate a household. Private households employ individuals as cooks, maids, nannies, butlers, cleaning people, private nurses, and outside workers such as gardeners, caretakers, and other maintenance workers. This industry tends to have a steady, small workforce overall. Childcare personnel and nannies account for the majority of employment in this industry group. Employed parents and families with busy schedules need the services offered by childcare providers. This industry is not a single, unified entity, but rather a collection of various roles and tasks performed within private residences. The workers are paid hourly, salaried, or on a per-job basis.
