Layoff Support Services
If you are facing a layoff because the company you work for is downsizing, going out of business or moving out of the state or the country, we are here to help. You don’t have to search for your new job alone. We have many services available to you at no cost.
The first step is easy. Just find your local job service office and check out the services our trained professionals can offer:

- Opportunities to update your work skills and training
- Tips on writing a resume and cover letter
- Job referrals
- Career planning
Our goals are to get you back to work as soon as possible and minimize the disruption of your life the layoff will cause. The sooner you contact us, the sooner you will be on your way to a suitable new job.
An additional resource you may find helpful is the my Skills my Future website. This tool from the U.S. Department of Labor helps laid-off workers and other career changers find new occupations to explore, based on transferable skills gained in past jobs.
Also, while you do your job search, don’t forget to explore the possibility of benefits from the Unemployment Insurance program.
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families and Supplemental Nutrition Assistant Program
TANF and SNAP are employment and training programs designed to assist applicants or recipients to prepare for and secure full-time employment, leading toward economic self-sufficiency.
Participants may be placed in community service or employment that provides basic work skills, improving the chances of being successful in the workforce and leaving public assistance behind. Specific program requirements are available at your local job service office.
Training Opportunities
As your workforce partners, DLR offers a vast variety of training and education programs to help individuals realize their potential as employees. DLR is prepared to adapt and customize its education and job training programs to meet the needs of participants.
Veterans Employment Services
Veterans' representatives provide specialized assistance with job referrals, training, Veterans Affairs contacts and community support.
Work Opportunity Tax Credit
Employers can receive a tax credit by hiring employees from identified Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) target groups. Being WOTC certified has been proven to increase your ability as a job seeker to gain employment you otherwise probably would not have obtained.
