Commission Information
The Plumbing Commission has five members appointed by the Governor (one member must be a plumbing contractor; one member must be a journeyman plumber; one member must be a representative of the state Department of Health; and two must be consumer members).
Lay Member Needed: State Plumbing Commission (3-Year Term)
The State Plumbing Commission is seeking a lay member to join its team for a 3-year term. This is a unique opportunity to represent the public perspective on a commission dedicated to protecting the health and safety of South Dakotans.
As a lay member, you’ll ask the questions an average citizen would ask and help ensure decisions reflect the public interest, not just technical expertise. Past action items have included reviewing policies, setting fees, and updating the state plumbing code.
The commission meets quarterly, with three virtual meetings and one in-person meeting each July.
