Instructions for Finding Population Demographics Data
in the Virtual System
Follow the instructions below to find population demographics data (by age and gender) in the virtual LMI data system. (Chrome or Edge browser recommended; functionality in the virtual system is not compatible with Internet Explorer.) If you need additional assistance or would like us to provide the data you need, please contact us.
For population demographic data, visit the virtual labor market data system, then follow the steps immediately below.
Regarding the period type, please note the ACS data are five-year estimates, representing data collected over a five-year period to increase reliability of the data for less populated areas. When selecting a time period in the virtual system, selecting one particular year (such as 2015) will result in data displayed for that year--but it will represent data collected over the five-year period of 2011-2015.
Please note: The system may react slowly when selecting a large number of areas, and some computers may time out before the data has been successfully retrieved, especially if you have selected multiple time periods as well.
Tip: At any point while using the virtual labor market data system, to clear all prior selections, click on the "Labor Market Analysis" link at the right of the gray tool bar across the top of the screen.
