Division of Insurance

Our Mission

The mission of the Division of Insurance is to protect the public by providing quality assistance, providing fair industry regulation, and promoting healthy and competitive insurance and investment markets in South Dakota.

The Division of Insurance staff continues to carry out our mission and perform all primary functions during the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has released the “Back to Normal” Plan and Executive Order 2020-22 allowing state government to move towards opening offices again. The Division is taking a measured approach in returning staff to the office. Our focus has been and remains serving the public, being accessible via alternative methods, and keeping employees safe. The DOI office remains closed to the public at this time. Staff, whether in the office or working remotely, will continue to provide timely assistance while performing all normal duties and functions.

Please continue to contact the Division with any insurance or securities related concerns.
