Managed Care Contractor (MCC)
A Managed Care Contractor (MCC) is an entity that establishes, operates or maintains a network of participating providers which is often called a preferred provider organization or PPO. An MCC may also contract with insurance companies, employers or other organizations to operate a managed care plan.
MCCs are required to register with the Division of Insurance prior to conducting business in South Dakota. The application for an MCC should be completed through National Insurance Producers Registry (NIPR) with supporting documentation to be submitted via the NIPR Attachment Warehouse. See the MCC Registration Requirements Checklist for additional information.
