Independent Review Organizations
An Independent Review Organization is an entity that conducts independent external reviews of adverse determinations and final adverse determinations pursuant to ARSD 20:06:53. IROs wanting to operate in South Dakota must submit an application for review, including all documentation and information necessary to show the IRO satisfies the established minimum qualifications. See the IRO Registration Requirements for additional information.
The application for an IRO should be completed through National Insurance Producers Registry (NIPR) with supporting documentation to be submitted via the NIPR Attachment Warehouse. An IRO approval is effective for two years unless otherwise determined by the director.
