Home Inventory
Natural disasters can strike any where at any time. It is important to be prepared in the event there is damage to your home. A room-by-room inventory of your home - along with photos and proof of ownership - will make it easier to fill an accurate, detailed insurance claim if your home is damaged or destroyed.
A Home Inventory Checklist (Adobe PDF) provided by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) may be helpful in completing an inventory of your home.
Store your home inventory and related documents in a safe, easily accessible place online, on your computer, in a fire-proof box or a safe deposit box. Consider sharing a copy with friends, relatives and your insurance provider.
iPhone® users - The NAIC's free myHOME Scr.APP.book downloadable app lets you quickly photograph and capture descriptions of your possessions room by room, then store electronically for safekeeping. View the video demo.
Android® users - With the myHome Scr.APP.book home inventory app, you can quickly capture images, descriptions, and serial numbers of your possessions, then organize the information by room or by category. The app creates a back-up file for email sharing. View the video demo.
