Posting Requirements

Health, Safety and Infection Control Rules of the Commission

Administrative Rule of South Dakota (ARSD) 20:42:04:10 mandates that every salon must display in a prominent place a copy of the most current applicable health, safety and infection control rules of the Commission. You may print a copy of the Salon Rules (Adobe PDF format) or contact the Commission office for a copy. The copy size is 8 1/2" x 14".

Unregulated Services Sign

ARSD 20:42:04:10.02 mandates that any service offered within a salon that is not a cosmetology practice must be clearly identified as an unregulated service and listed on a sign conspicuously posted in the reception area. The sign shall state: "Unregulated Services. The following services offered by (name of your salon) are not regulated by the South Dakota Cosmetology Commission: ___________". You may print a copy of the Unregulated Service Sign (Adobe PDF format) or contact the Commission office for a copy. Copy size is 8 1/2" x 11". The sign is to be completed and posted by the owner.

Blood Exposure Procedure

ARSD 20:42:04:10.01 requires the blood exposure procedure be posted in the first aid kit. The blood exposure rules shall be posted in or near the first aid kit in the salon. You may print a copy of the Blood Exposure Procedure sign (Adobe PDF format) or contact the Commission office for a copy. Copy size is 8 1/2" x 11".
