Notice of Public Hearing to Adopt Rules

A public hearing will be held in Oahe Conference Room, 124 South Euclid Avenue, 1st Floor, Pierre, SD 57501 on August 18, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. (CDT) to consider the repeal of proposed rule:

§ 20:06:18:09

The effect of repealing this section is to remove the maximum limit on the number of continuing education credits an insurance producer can receive during a two-year period from courses sponsored by an insurance company. The reason for repealing this section is to modernize our rules with current industry practices and remove barriers for insurance producers.

Persons interested in presenting amendments, data, opinions, and arguments for or against the proposed rules may appear in-person at the hearing, or mail or e-mail the materials to the South Dakota Division of Insurance, 124 South Euclid Avenue, 2nd Floor, Pierre, South Dakota 57501 or to lisa.harmon@state.sd.us or insurance@state.sd.us (Subject Line: Proposed Administrative Rules). The deadline to submit any such written comments for consideration by Division is August 28, 2025, and materials sent by mail must reach the Division by the comment deadline to be considered.

After the public hearing and written comment period, the Division of Insurance will consider all written and oral comments it receives on the proposed rules.  The Division may modify or amend a proposed rule at that time to include or exclude matters that are described in this notice.
