Unemployment Insurance

Overpayments — Reporting Possible Fraud

We work to prevent and detect claimant and employee fraud in the South Dakota Unemployment Insurance (UI) program. Benefit fraud costs everyone money. South Dakota law provides penalties to claimants and employees who commit fraud.

All of the actions included in the graphic below are potentially fraudulent.

Contact Us to Report South Dakota UI Fraud

You can make a report anonymously or give us your name. Knowing who you are gives us a chance to obtain additional details if needed.

In order to adequately investigate your allegation, please include as much information as possible. If you do not have all the information requested, do not worry; tell us what you do know.
