South Dakota Week of Work, April 19-23, uses career exploration to guide students, engage local businesses, and introduce employers to their future workforce. To raise awareness and highlight the career opportunities within our state, we need YOUR HELP. You can participate virtually in the 2021 Week of Work in two ways:
-
Be a Virtual Panelist during the Week of Work. Businesses will be grouped, three per panel, for a virtual, moderator-led discussion, lasting about 40 minutes. Sign up using this registration form. DLR will follow up with a panel assignment and a list of possible questions.
- Record a video about the occupation(s) within your business. View video submission instructions. The video should:
-
Be three minutes or less in length
-
Highlight one occupation (submit more than one video if you have more occupations to highlight)
-
Be tailored to high school students (get them excited to be your future workforce)
-
Include your business name, location, and occupation highlighted
-
Answer at least three of these questions:
-
What are your major responsibilities?
-
What is something you like about your job?
-
What is a challenge you face in your job?
-
What education or requirements are there to do your job?
-
Why would a high school student be excited to enter this field? Or what type of student might be interested in this field?
-
What surprised you when you first entered this field?
-
What made you choose this occupation?
The videos will be uploaded to YouTube and weekofwork.sd.gov and used to promote Week of Work on social media. View video submission instructions. Please submit videos by March 5.
By giving students a look at a day in the life of your business, you can help shape the state's future workforce, and you just might meet future employees. Find out more at weekofwork.sd.gov.
Your local DLR Job Service is open by appointment to help connect you with your future workforce anytime and offer other business services.
