2024 Renewals

You can now renew through our Online Renewal System.

Please refer to our 2024 South Dakota Electrician Renewal Step-by-Step Guide for assistance with logging in for the first time and renewing your license(s) through the online portal. If you have issues with logging in, please email or call the office at 605.773.3573 for assistance.

Licensees are required to attain 16 hours of continuing education (a minimum of 8 code hours). When entering the continuing education into the new portal, not all classes may be available, so please select a different class if needed and upload the certificates you have for completed classes.  In the next renewal cycle, ALL continuing education must be preapproved by the commission, and you will need to select the class you completed.

You must renew before June 30, 2024, or you will be assessed a $50 reinstatement fee. You may submit an online application without a credit card payment, but the application will not be processed until we receive the check/money order in the mail (do not send cash through the mail).

Applications and Other Forms for Licensees

All applications can now be submitted through our new online portal.

• Select the Application Portal to apply for a license in South Dakota, review an existing application, and check the status of a submitted application.
• Select the Licensee Portal to renew licenses, reinstate licenses, and record continuing education

If you are applying for an electrical contractor or Class B electrician license, you will also need to fill out and submit the Bond Application:
