Business Webinar on Unemployment Insurance during the COVID-19 Pandemic

The Department of Labor and Regulation (DLR) and South Dakota Retailers Association (SDRA) are providing a free webinar on Friday, March 27 at 10 a.m. CDT.

DLR Secretary Marcia Hultman will be providing information on unemployment insurance as it relates to COVID-19 layoffs and closures.

“Employers have a lot of the same furlough questions on technical issues, paperwork and legalities,” said Secretary Hultman. “We want to provide as much guidance as we can on the process and other services we can provide, such as rapid response.”

Employers: Use SIDES for Online Unemployment Filing

The Department of Labor and Regulation (DLR) is asking employers filing unemployment insurance information to sign up for the State Information Data Exchange System (SIDES) e-Response. SIDES e-Response is a fast, secure and standardized way to automate responses to notices of unemployment claims.

This page includes a list of information and web pages regarding the virus, including links to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Johns Hopkins Center for Science and Engineering (interactive map) the World Health Organization (WHO) and South Dakota Department of Health (SDDOH).
  • COVID-19: Reemployment Assistance Eligibility Determinations. This page consists of proposed scenario interpretations regarding Reemployment Assistance eligibility.
  • Worker's Compensation Coverage and COVID-19. Information regarding when COVID-19 may be compensable under Workers' Compensation.
