Nonresident Licensing Information
Nonresidents of South Dakota seeking to obtain the equivalent South Dakota license must successfully pass the state portion of the South Dakota broker examination. The examination is administered by Applied Measurement Professionals (AMP). Contact AMP at www.goamp.com or call 913.895.4600.
To make application for licensure to the South Dakota Real Estate Commission, you must provide the following:
If you are a salesperson or broker associate, your responsible broker must obtain a South Dakota broker license. The responsible broker must maintain a trust account in a South Dakota financial institution for all South Dakota transactions.
A firm license must also be obtained if your company is a partnership, limited liability partnership, corporation, limited liability company, or association. You will also need to contact the Secretary of State's office in order to conduct business in the state of South Dakota.
You will also need to contact the South Dakota Department of Revenue for business tax information.
