Department of Labor and Regulation

South Dakota Autism Study

During the 2014 legislative session, the South Dakota Legislature commissioned an Autism Study to better understand services, costs and insurance coverage in the treatment of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders in the state through Senate Bill 108 (in Adobe .pdf format). Particular emphasis is placed on intensive behavioral interventions including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

The Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Department of Labor and Regulation have selected Health Management Associates of Lansing, Mich., to conduct the study. A report will be issued to the Governor and Legislature by Nov. 15, 2014.
