About Pamela S. Roberts

Pam Roberts was appointed Cabinet Secretary of the reorganized Department of Labor and Regulation by Governor Dennis Daugaard on November 23, 2010. She had held the post of Secretary of Labor for Governor Rounds. She has served on the Cabinet for five governors and has also held the positions of Chief of Operations in the Governor's Office and Commissioner of Personnel.
Roberts chairs the Unemployment Insurance Advisory Council and serves on the Workers' Compensation Advisory Council, Governor's Trust Task Force, Governor's Re-entry Council, South Dakota Interagency Council on Homelessness, Workforce Development Council, and the DOL Retirement Board. She is also on the Board of Directors for the National Association of State Workforce Agencies.
Roberts is a native of Pierre and graduate of South Dakota State University. She and her husband Clay own and operate a farm and ranch enterprise in central South Dakota. The Roberts' were honored to receive the Brent Wilbur Habitat Award at the 2010 Governor's Invitational Hunt. Their two children are both married and live in Pierre. Hunter is an attorney and he and his wife Stephanie have two children of their own, Christopher Henry and Sarina Lorraine. Chelsey is a dentist practicing with her husband Nick at Dentistry at the St. Charles.
Roberts' interests include spending time with her family, participating in community and state events, reading, and enjoying water activities. She is an active member of the United Methodist Church, the Pierre area Junior Achievement Board of Directors, PEO and the Pierre Chamber of Commerce.
